1 year: SUMMER UPDATES

Hey guys, its been so long since I've posted anything hasn't it? Well hope you guys are having a wonderful summer, I am now at Mid Pacific Institute but I have some updates on this art blog to share. I am now going in to the eighth grade and signed up for some arts I really enjoyed taking last year. The experience at my new school has been amazing, and I would like to spread the word on how fantastic their art program is there, the teachers are truly amazing because they really make you enjoy what your studying and put so much passion into making you better and better in what you do. I've been in the music program for one year now and got really into music, I now love playing bassoon. For those of you who never heard of that instrument, a bassoon is a double reed instrument commonly played in orchestras and symphonies but can played in band as well. If I haven't come to Mid Pacific I don't think I would have appreciated music as much as I do now, music taught me so much, it taught me how hard work and dedication can lead to success (not just in music but in life).   I've made some drawings on most of the common band instruments played in our school band

At Mid Pacific I have really enjoyed their dance program most because the class feel like a safe learning environment, and the teachers are knowledgeable about dance, and are in your best interest. The classes are challenging and always give you something where you can improve. Before I joined their dance program, I didn't have very much interests, I didn't see all these wonderful opportunities Mid Pacific gave me, not just Mid Pac, but dance it self, has taught me that if you can put your mind to it you can succeed in anything. It was funny a year ago before I started dance I thought wow I never getting to level 2, now the time has come and I look back and realized I have a come a long way, dance has changed how I see the world, dance has taught me how to express my self and  how important team work is

Hello and welcome back to another post! I have not posted in such a long time, wow! Anyways for design over the past few weeks we have been working on our badge digitally to make it a vector graphics, we have been working on surveys filling out worksheets, sharing our designs again, etc. This finally came to my final badge design on the IB learner profile "principled." In this design I tried to focus things on unique designs that match as kind of a theme.

The Noodle Doodle Box!

Hey guys yesterday as a middle school gang of drama students, we went to see a very great play called the noodle doodle box! The play was very entertaining because it very funny, exciting and most of all it included a very important lesson that I always thought was a very good one. The play also included our very great teacher Mr. Ganes playing the drummer in the story.
This play teaches you the story of team working in such a unique way but I think it also makes you appreciate that there are so many things that you like or want but many people forget that people are struggling to find water, or to collect money to survive, and that you can make your mind as small as you would like but, no matter what these people will still struggle so you should appreciate for what you have.
This cute story was about a guy named Pepper and Zacharias are constantly fighting over their boxes trying to show off and is unwilling to share. They call each other names but when this drummer comes by Zacharias and Pepper are interested and wanted to learn. So they take turns playing the drums. While the other one is gone the drummer says for them to take their box to teach the other a lesson and that they would become the top drummer. When they find out that they were scammed by the drummer who ran off. They realize that sticking together and working together made them a lot happier and more fun then keeping a box to themselves.

Upcoming Drama Field Trip

If you read are previous posts on the Art classes, then you should know that in LJA there are four Art subjects you can pick from. On Wednesday (which is tomorrow) the whole 6th grade will go on a field trip. This field trip ties in with the Arts because the Drama teacher, Mr. Gaines, will be featuring in this field trip. We will be watching a play that Mr. Gaines will be in! The play we'll be watching is called "Noodle, Noodle Box". The play shows the 4 agreements and friendship. This post is just a friendly reminder to the 6th graders of LJA and something that we will be doing. I hope you guys like this post and I hope everyone enjoys the field trip tomorrow!

My Final Flag Design Plus Sneak Peak on Next Assignment!

Hey guys remember my other post about designing simple small sketches about flags? http://ljathearts.blogspot.com/2016/01/draw-and-learn-with-me-about-what-makes.html Well since then a few classes ago my task was to create my final design of what my flag about me would look like. The challenging part was to make it simple but it was nice seeing how simple things really are. Now it's your turn to get ideas and try your own flag! Taking Visuals at LJA!

Hey guys I just wanted to talk about what it's like to take visuals in LJA. Before I get started heres the list of project we did in my group of rotation that I can remember:
1. Hand Drawing
2. Milk Cloth Panting
3. Nature photographs for art vocab cards
4. Starry Night Piece
5. Egyptian letter to teacher
6. Egyptian summative project
How the class works:
1. Find your seat
2. The teacher explains what to do
3. You get busy and try to get as much work done as possible
In my opinion the project were fun and interesting. I really enjoyed visuals but the only thing I didn't like is that she only gave us to days to turn in the assignment so you have to be a fast worker and you also want to make it look like your best. I think if you love patterns, panting, and photographs then you'll enjoy the visuals. The hardest part was getting it done so I had almost got sent to this thing called study skills. I was so tired because that day I didn't go to bed till elven at night got up up at five thirty in the morning just to study for spelling bee! I didn't have breakfast then later had to miss my lunch! Not fun.........
Overall I think it was such a cool experience; I learned so much such as the vocab words, the styles and techniques in art. I learned a little bit about Egypt. If you love art as much as I do then you'll love visuals. I plan to take next year but, I'm not  a hundred percent sure because that means I'll be spending my year in study skills or in the art room.
I recommend that you try and take your time at the same time as work fast because that way you can get things done in a timely manner. If I were to go back I would have done that. Also try not to talk so much because that makes it hard to focus which then you get nothing done. I suggest you also use mechanical pencil 0.7 or less when drawing because it will make life much easier since you can get into small spaces easier.

How to Get Mostly A's In Visual Arts; Super Easy!

You see these A's? Well I want to show you how to get these A's step by step so for when you do visuals you can see your grades with all A's constantly!

1. Take your time. In visuals it's important to take your time that way you can get plenty of detail and your work quality will be greater. Maybe if your doing simple checker board, curly q patterns then take the time to nicely shade covering the whole square with nice clean strokes an in the lines or for curly q's take time to try to make the lines nice and rounded. Teachers look for who take their times and demonstrate their learning and efforts in class.
2. Another thing teachers look for is who's trying their best even though this subject can be hard. If you try your best for like maybe painting the lush green mountains off by your school or by your house then really try to follow the correct strokes of the mountain. Even though it can be hard for some people and your work may look messy but, you may find on your report card that the teacher says things like so and so really tries in art even though this subject is hard for him/her. That's always good to see because like anything many things are graded that you don't think of such as participation. 
3. Figure out what the teacher is looking for such as creativity, details, etc. Then maybe before actually starting your final product try drafting it first and see how it turns out. Try a few and when you feel more comfortable then try the final product making sure to follow steps one and two! Doing practices really help because they can get you more in the feeling and help get better techniques and have a better final product to!

Draw With Me! Basic Pie Drawing for English Homework

First of all this is my english project which is to write a Limerick poem and draw an illustration!  Ok first of all my poem was about someone eating eight pies and was late to school. So my idea was just to draw a pie sadly not eight because that would take forever and yeah so heres my pie!

I like to start off just by simply doing a circle. Next I like to draw the design which could be anything like a fruit pie whipped cream  pie, or just a random design that looks yummy! Lastly I'll draw the crust which takes the most time depending on your design. You can make your crust look burnt, toasted or just nice round arches likes I did! Drama Class At LJA Part 2

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to tell you about one of the Art classes you can take at Le Jardin Academy. There are four Art classes you can choose from; Arts (Visual), band, chorus, and drama. Today I'll be telling you about Drama class. Drama class is a very fun and interesting class. The teacher of this class is Mr. Gaines. He is very funny and very good at what he does. The class takes place in the Harold Theatre. You get to play a lot of awesome games, and learn about very interesting things about acting, staging, and much more. There are also many plays that you need to go to for homework. You also get to work in groups and even brainstorm and write your own play! Drama class has a very fun learning experience. I highly recommend this Art to LJA students.

Draw and Learn With me About What makes a Good Flag and How to Draw one Design Homework!

Hey guys in design everything just transitioned in such an amazing way! First of all we switched our Classcraft tribe not only that but, we started talking about flags! In design we learned some basic rules about what makes a good flag! I thought this would be perfect idea of art to share because our homework was to draw 5 different flags about us so.... here they are
1. The flag should be simple (so simple a kid can draw it from memory)
2. Use meaning full symbols
3. Only use to two to three different colors
4. No lettering or writing
5. Distinctive

What is Drama to You? To me Drama is....

Hey guys I hadn't had to much experiment with drama but I've been in some plays. And I know many people think of drama as school plays or just acting over dramatic but I don't think that's entirely the definition of drama. I mean yeah as a an actress for a school play I enjoy the art of being able to act then me such as when I played the moon dancer from Charlotte Budane a character who finds what she really loves. I enjoyed being the moon dancer I felt like I was from another whole world a different culture, different person. I love dancing, though I rarely dance dancing is pretty fun in so many creative ways! I loved being on the stage being of of the leaders of the moon dance. Another role I played in the play was a narrator. I remember my sentence started off with her head was brimming with the story that...
But could Drama be in sports? I definitely think so. As an ice skater I feel like drama takes place such dramatic skating or dressing up as a whole another character. For example I completed a 2013 championship competition in ice skating! I was doing a program to Jessie! Remember her from toy story 2 and 3? So I got to dress up as her and act as if I was her wouldn't you consider that drama? I would but drama can be a negative thing what about the drama that's going on in your school or maybe your friends just sweat over little things and start being drama queens?
This is when popularity on the negative side starts. Typically starting around grade 4 and through middle school and high school. Trust I'm a middle schooler and sometimes  drama gets so over your head and sometimes frustrating and just annoying. It just follows you wherever you go like stocker heee heee I'm following you. You might be thinking how does this have to with art? but, take a deeper thought. Sometimes drama can be settle many things in his world are settle. But, what about if your school is having a small dance and people are just like OMG who are you going with? They just like overly dramatic by acting like it's junior/senior prom. It's like acting when maybe they don't realize it, maybe they do realize they just like dramaticness in there life.
Another form of drama could in a movie your acting in that will be published eventually don't those actors sometimes have to act more dramatic then there use to or want to. For example what about Peyton List she played the character Emma in the movie Jessie. I'm sure she had to act dramatic in a way that people could tell what kind of person she is. She did a very nice job wouldn't you agree. What about others actors such as Selena Gomez or Debby Ryan? I'm sure they had to experience the same things as Peyton did.
Overall I think drama is about enjoying the art, and expression. I think drama is a good way to experience what it's like to be someone else and being able to put yourself into other peoples shoes. I feel like when I act I feel what it's like to be the happy person, the lonely person, or the person who's struggling to fight for the life. This makes me appreciate what I have because many people who grow up in an environment take things for granted such as there clean water, their roofs in on their head. Sometimes I have to remind myself or ask myself what do I appreciate?

Hey guys today I'll be sharing about my special drawing pencils and how to use them if you have them. First let me show what they look like:
lol you can see I'm listing to music now I'll show you what it feels like now I'm on the outside ohh we did everything right now I'm on the outside...... Recognize that song? lol Anyways, I'm going to be showing my drawing stick and what it looks like:

This drawing stick is used for basically a lot of things like filling parts that are suppose to be black could be used for shadowing, outlining  etc. Some designs:

Another example from my set is my magical erasers of awesomeness! These erasers are suppose to erase very well to hide what you were drawing many drawers I see use these erasers! Heres what they look like:

Next my awesome drafting pencil that is more like my EVERYTHINGGGG pencil! This pencil is like the best pencil you'll ever have in the world because not only it's super good for drafting but it's super comfortable despite that the fact that regular pencils hurt your hands every time you write for about 5-10 mins. For example we have this thing in my english class called rocket writing where we write for 5 mins pushing our self not to stop so I used this pencil for 5 straight mins even 10 and my hand didn't burn like other pencils do. So I highly you suggest you buy this pencil I got this at papers, pens, etc. at windward mall for I believe 5. 95 or something but, I'm not a hundred percent sure because it was a gift and someone left the receipt with the prices on it.

Next are another set of pencil these pencils each have a thickness and come out with a different lightness or darkness of there color. See for your self:

These pencils are super important if your drawing because if your drawing a scenery or something big with lots of details then you'll need different line thickness or color difference.

How to Draw a Basic Four Petal Flower FOR BEGINNERS

Do you have trouble drawing flowers? Well then heres the perfect guid with clear instructions and pics. that will help fix that problem and, It will be super fun and awesome because you'll learn how to draw great flowers constantly! Hope this tutorial helps, so lets get drawing!
First what you'll need
1. Pencil (I suggest mechanical 0.7 or less)
2. Paper ( as a beginner I suggest gird)
3. Eraser if needed
Instructions for grid paper users: Ok, now that you have those items now the first step is simply drawing a dot on an interesting line(s) Like this:

Pretty simple so far huh? Well now it's only slightly more difficult! Now your going to start drawing your first petal.  Now where you put your dot find start the your petal by slowly working your a little diagonally not to much or to little. You can use the squares as your guid so when you draw your line it should be cutting your square(s) in half, you might have more then one cut squares if your making a big flower. Kind of like this:

Now start to round your petal at the top making them slightly pointed at the very tippy top and come back down meeting at your starting dot. Your petal should look like this. Once your done with that all you need to do is do the same to the other three petals. Don't forget to try to make your petals as even as possible! Your almost done flower should look like this towards the end:

Now all we have to is the final last touches which is shadowing which if you have not seen my tutorial on that here's the linkhttp://ljathearts.blogspot.com/2016/01/how-to-shadow-item-through-drawing-for.html So yeah lets get busy
Now starting at the dot start by making your value scale a little less then half of the petal on all four petals. Try to line up the value scale a much as possible, I know it can be hard but you may have to overlap it a lot but that's ok and make sure to rub really well or else you'll get a scratchy bumpy result. Your final result should look like this:

Tired of Bordom 3 Awesome DIY Art Ideas to do With old Mazgiznes or Cut Outs

Hey guys today I'll be sharing on how to make some really cool and exciting things to do with magazines or cut outs for when your board! Plus not only it's fun but it's good for the environment because your recycling in a way... so, if you would like to be green and artsy then this post is perfect for you! Anyways lets get started!
1. Use as you journal book cover for school if your teachers allow you. I highly suggest you try this because it's super fun to look at all these cut outs because your placing things you truly like, or favorite memories, and who likes looking at that same old boring speckled journal you carry to your math, or science class? Well I certainly get tired of that design.
What you'll need:
1. Journal
2. A pair of scissors
3.Glue
4. Lots and Lots of magazines/cut outs
5. Package tape or something to protect the cut outs.
Now all you'll need to do is look through the magazines find your favorites or goofy photos cut e'm out and stick them on using your glue. Let it dry. Then using your tape or whatever carefully cut the length you need and tape it over your masterpiece. Pretty simple huh?
Another idea is to use them as stickers simply just by using special double sided tape or use badges tape and cutting the shape out anyway you want use the sticky material tape on and stick your new sticker where ever you want.
This activity is super fun for people who enjoy writing and I guess it's pretty fun for people who don't like writing ether so... yeah
What you'll need

Now all you need to do is just cut up pics from magazines or use some of your own photo, letters, etc. and try to make a story or two. It can be fun for people who like challenges because sometimes you find hard pics that is hard to build a story. So get creative!

How to Draw A straight Line Without Really Having to use a Ruler!

Hey guys I get lot's of free time to share my tutorials I planned just for you since I'm in study hall! Anyway today I'll be sharing how to draw straight lines without really having to use a ruler! I think it's really important to know this not just having to expect a ruler! I mean because rulers are the best because one time I did a math formative on graphing and I had to make the lines straight for a good grade and rulers are slidey for me so they always move when you try to use it. So now I'm going to show you how to draw straight lines and maybe this will help raise your grade so you can get comments like nice artistic touch, pretty smart huh?
What helps as a beginner is practice drawing straight lines on line paper or graph paper so it gives you the feeling of what it will be like without the line. When you feel get comfortable with that try it off the line slowly make a short line and over lap kind of continuing down the line. When lifting up your pencil then putting back on the paperYou'll need to look at the line ahead so you know your going straight and not at the pencil kind of like driving you loo at the road and not at the wheel and the petals same thing with drawing the line. Also your lines make look a little scratchy but that's totally ok because it looks artsy and fun! Another thing is don't worry if yours doesn't look good at first like it's still squiggly mine started off like that so, it just takes practice like most things.

How to Draw The perfect See Through Cylinder, 4 steps! FOR BRGINNERS

Hey guys today I'll be showing you how to draw the perfect cylinder step by step, also the total time for drawing the cylinder is about 6-10 minutes. Anyway hope this guid helps you, so lets get started!
What you'll need:
1. Pencil (I suggest mechanical 0.7 or less)
2. Paper
3. eraser if needed
once you have those items you are all set to go! What I think what really helps is just drawing circles from different angles because cylinders are 3-D circles right?
1. Start off by drawing a circle as if it was from a top angle it helps as a beginner if you use a soup can a your guid.

2. Start by slowly drawing your lines which will be the sides of your cylinder try to keep the lines as straight as possible but if you can't don't worry because that is my next tutorial so don't forget to come back to the arts.

3. Anyways once your finished draw the very last circle the base of your cylinder. How I like to do this is to draw the arc of the circle like this:

Then I'll finish the rest of the arc which will be the inside
Lastly shade it side ways giving it a more 3-D look the gently rub it. Your result should look like this:

The Art of Decorating Food

Hey guys cooljammer is back! Today I'll be sharing why I love decorating food for parties, dances, or other and why I like as an art! So lets get started!
So the main reason why I love food decorating is because you can style it anyway you want wether it's pretty and artistic, or funny and cute. I also enjoy it because it takes time and it's kind of like a game of trying to plan as you go which is a good skill to practice and is a useful skill in life because you don't want your life  messed up and have an unorganized schedule. Another reason I enjoy is because it's like any art drawing, painting, visualizing which as you know me I love art which is why I decided to participate in this blog. These reasons put a big smile on your face!
Other reasons can include is that you can some fun with decorating such as having competitions like who can make the most prettiest pie, or goofiest. Or you can do a competition who can the best befe table display of chips with a dip. Those are always fun activities to do when your board and it can be a fun way prepping for parties! Another reason is that I feel more involved in life in a good way, I feel more connected from person to person which is a really good feeling.  I think this is really important to me because if you never connect to the world the n you miss out on so many opportunities. So far our generation is people on technology 24/7 doing video games, Instagram which is ok to a certain degree but it;s becoming a bigger problem. So I think think decorating food raises your spirits and makes you feel confident. I will always take this with me in my life!
Another reason not only it's fun but it can be your job for when guests come over while everybody else is doing the boring work. Pretty nifty huh? hee hee anyway it's also important if you want to get hired for jobs in the bakery or some fancy restaurant or something like that. I mean I'm not going to try to get hired in a bakery but, I know others have a dream for that and is a passionate baker.
